We received outstanding service from Ken's Appliance. Technician Kyle replaced the motor and agitator parts on our 37-year-old Kenmore 70-series washing machine. The cost of the repair was markedly below the cost of a new machine and the repaired machine functions well (I can't say 'like new' because I can't remember!). Many thanks.

Recently had a dryer repaired, and the whole process took about two weeks. The techs themselves were friendly, and the dryer does seem a lot quieter afterward. Ended up paying about $140 to diagnose the issue. Was told the parts were available in a kit and verbally estimated that the repair would cost about $160. The repair happened the next week and I was charged $307. The total bill was a little over $446. I'm not sure how an estimate could be so off, and had I known what general cost was going to be at the outset I would have weighed other options. EDIT: I was eventually contacted by Ken's appliance and they did refund the difference between what the estimate was and what I was initially charged. Given the quality of the work and this service, I would do business with them again!

Great experience at Ken’s! Alexa answered the phone promptly, politely, and spoke clearly (a rare occurrence these days with businesses) She was knowledgeable and quickly found the part I was after and put it on hold. The price was reasonable and I was able to fix my fridge same day instead of pay shipping and wait days from an internet store. Glad to have Ken’s in the local Ames area! Give them your business!

Called a few days ahead and made an appointment for Friday morning to have our dishwasher looked at. It's a workday so I moved things around so I could be home between 10 a.m. and 1p.m. as they asked. I called a little after 11 to make sure I was still on the schedule. They said the guy had some personal business to attend to but was due in at noon and then would be right over. At 1:15, I gave up as I had to head in to work. I guess as one of the only appliance repair places in town, they have so much business they can afford to treat people this way. -- Upgrading my original review from one star to three. A staffer followed up, apologized, and asked for a second chance. I rescheduled the appointment and the tech showed up within the period we'd agreed to. He diagnosed the problem and suggested either replacing the machine or swapping out the whole sump pump and motor module, which would have run $400 parts and labor. I ended up getting a used agitator pump on eBay for $35 and doing the job myself, which ran about $100 in total. Still, I get why they would recommend the larger replacement job on an old machine like ours. To sum up: I would call them again in a pinch. Good customer service reps.

Kyle did a great job fixing our Maytag washer. He was on time, personable, and knowledgeable. He told us the issue was either the wiring harness or the control board and ordered both parts to be prepared. It ended up being the wiring harness and he had it installed quickly and had our washer functioning! We’ll definitely use Ken’s for any repairs in the future.
