Terracycle

I just received my first Terracycle order, and to say I’m disappointed is an understatement. This is literally a tiny cardboard box that cost $241. It will hold a few takeout food containers at best. The description of the all in one box says “Quantity 15+”, which I thought meant the quantity would be 15. I mean, who would pay $241 for a tiny cardboard box? When I contacted customer service, they said 15+ refers to discounted pricing for purchases of 15 or more boxes.

We have used their brigades for drives for many years. Shipping labels are easy to print and customer service is very responsive to any questions you many have. The portal also tracks the lbs collected. You can also earn points if you collect over a certain number of lbs of a specific material or category which can be redeemed as $ for a charity.

I recycled Brita Filters. A minimum of 5 pounds of filters is required. Once I had the required weight, I requested a mailing label from the TerraCycle website. There was a wait of some months before I was notified that the label was available. Subsequently I was able to print the label, pack up the filters, and drop them off at a local collection point for UPS. After about 2 weeks TerraCycle sent me a thank you for recycling w/them.
