I am rating the appliance as part of this review also. Our French door LG fridge broke. It was going to be a while to have it serviced and was also expensive. Decided to shop local and try Kollmans for a new one instead. I have not been a fan as they only offer GE so selection is limited. Initially, Kollmans was not going to be able to deliver before Christmas and deliveries were over a week out even though the item was in stock. We were without a fridge so I was tempted to just not get a new one and wait for service on our LG. The other sales person said there was a cancellation on 12/23 so we were able to get it before holidays. That was nice and appreciated. Although it seemed our sales person was not keen on giving us that open delivery spot, she did it. It was delivered and installed without problems. They even moved the old on down 3 steps and into our driveway. Very nice of them. Now for the appliance: Not a fan. Seems very cheaply made compared to the LG we had. The plastic film was removed, however small pieces are stuck all around the edges and you can the little pieces sticking up all over but am not able to get them out. The doors take a noticeable effort to push them closed. You have to push them and there is a rubbing sound front he seals in the doors. I do not recall this being an issue when we looked at the floor model. I am wondering if the French style door seal was not in place on the floor model? I also do not remember the flood model being so difficult to close. You should not have to push so hard on doors to close a fridge every time you open it. Now, the HUGE problem is the ice maker. It makes such a small amount of ice at a time and cannot store more than a tray or 2 so we are consistently out of ice. I am having to put a tray in freezer and empty the ice maker bin into that to try to get a stock pile of ice. We drink lots of water and use ice regularly thru the day so this is an issue for us. We have had a Maytag then this last LG with ice makers and never had this issue. It seems to be a common one after researching the GE brand. I honestly wish I could return this. I am glad we kept our LG as we will be getting that repaired and keeping it for our main fridge again. LG is working with us as there was a known issue with the compressors. I unfortunately was stuck with having to make a quick decision because we needed a fridge. I am convinced the overall design/materials quality is much better for the LG brand but it is difficult to find local places to service them. That is unfortunate.

I needed a new washing machine. I was surprised at the number of washers that had warranties that cost extra. I ended up searching Kollman’s Appliance since I had previous experience with them and found their GE 4.3 cu. ft. Top Load washer. It comes with an excellent warranty. Kollmans was great to work with. It was delivered when promised, installation was fast, old washer removed and this washer was everything and more than I expected!! I am extremely satisfied with the entire experience.

Just recently I bought a new GE dishwasher after 10 years on the old GE dishwasher. Never really had problems with the old one, until recently. I think the control board was bad but I decided to purchase a new smudge proof stainless steel dishwasher from Kollman Appliance. I used to work there so I know the owners and I called Josh (co-owner) and even though he was out of town he called Tami (co-owner) and she took care of everything on the phone. Mark, the service tech, came out and we had a nice chat while he was installing the dishwasher. I thought I would have a problem getting the dishwasher installed as we put the kitchen flooring in after we installed the last dishwasher. Mark had no problem getting it installed. A long story, short, Kollman Appliance is the only locally owned Appliance Store in Sioux City and they go above and beyond to get your appliance needs taken care of. With just a simple phone call you can get the help you need. I have always had GE Appliances and so did my folks. They have always been superior to other brands. Just keep in mind when you shop at Chain Stores do you know where your money ends up? Well, it doesn’t end up helping the local economy, it goes to out of town shareholders. I give Kollman Appliance five stars because they not only earn it, they live it. Before you set foot in another out of town Appliance Store, stop in at Kollman Appliance, you’ll be glad you did!

Larry, their service technician is awesome! He was at our house within 10 minutes of our scheduled appointment, and had our issues fixed in less than 15 minutes. He had amazing customer service/personality and makes us glad we purchased all our appliances through Kollman!
