These guys are the best and they are providing an amazing service. I just had the transmission on my whirlpool washing machine replaced and I expect it to go for another 20yrs. The older appliances are much better than the new, engineered obsolete appliances. You need to know that these appliances are old and used. They are not new. You many need to perform or request a deep cleaning of the appliance. If you want a new, pristine (but short-lived) appliance, this is not Staten's specialty.

I called Staten's after seeing a positive neighborhood review. When I scheduled the appointment, I was told the tech would contact me after I provided my dishwasher's model number — but it took a second call to the office before he actually reached out. When the tech arrived, he diagnosed a leaky dishwasher without ever running it, basing his assessment solely on water stains. Throughout the repair, I ended up assisting with labor — helping move the machine, holding a flashlight, and helping install the new motor. During installation, he broke part of the new intake assembly and had to cannibalize the piece from the old motor. After a brief test run with no visible leaks, I ran the machine that night and noticed a small leak. Hoping it was residual water from the repair, and since I was going out of town for a few days, I left it to check again when I got back. When I returned and ran it again, the leak had gotten significantly worse. I called Staten's. Again, no callback until I texted the tech directly with video of the leak. When he returned, he showed up without a flashlight bright enough to work with and without pliers. He had a bleeding arm, asked for a bandaid, then joked to my wife that she must have broken the dishwasher — an odd choice given he was there to fix his own incomplete work. After multiple test runs, he concluded he didn't know why it was leaking and recommended yet another motor assembly. At that point I'd lost confidence in the repair and asked for a refund. He said he'd need to retrieve the new motor. I agreed, on the condition that he return my old one. But the back-and-forth over the machine itself (he suggested taking it with him without any compensation, presumably so they could fix and resell) was uncalled for. Overall: poor communication, unprofessional conduct on the return visit, and a repair that was never actually resolved.

I can’t speak highly enough about this place!!! On top of being incredibly friendly, affordable, helpful etc….our garage fridge had years of stickers on it from places we had been, collected etc and the owners knew we were really sad to see our fridge go when it quit working. Weeks later we get a hand delivery of all the stickers that were on our fridge carefully stuck to paper (no telling him many hours it took to carefully remove all of these!). Me & my son cut them all out of the papers, added magnets & stuck to our new fridge. We can’t say how much this meant to us!!! NEXT LEVEL COMPANY!!!! Forever customers now & referrals!!

This place was awesome. The Owner was there and provided us with excellent service. This business has been around for 53 years, Yes 53 years. Anybody who stays in business that long knows the industry and knows his stuff. 53 years,, Wow. Walking into his store is like walking into a Museum. He has a tub of knobs that I would guarantee he has the one your missing. I walked around for an hour just admiring the store while he helped my friend find clothes washer, then the owner turned around and financed it in 10 minutes then we were out the door with the washer. If you are in the market for new used appliances give Staten's your first look, I promise you will be walking out with the appliance.

UPDATE: Ran ~20 empty loads with Affresh tablets, Tide washing machine cleaner, bleach, borax, or cleaning vinegar with a rinse wash after each attempt. Crud is still breaking off into every load. I now have to purchase a specialty part to remove the drum so it can be cleaned - assuming the tub nut hasn't rusted on and is still removable. I've attached updated pictures to show just how dirty it is. On top of that, water is now dripping into the tub when the washer is off. Don't buy here. -------------- TL;DR: Dirty but (mostly) functional used appliances. I recommend going elsewhere as the prices at other stores are about the same, except they won't be quite so dirty. I have eczema and some, as of yet, unknown allergies that are setting off flare-ups. These flare-ups keep me up at night. In order to control this, I need to be able to wash my clothes in a clean washing machine. I mentioned this to the people at Staten's Appliances when I asked if they remove the tubs and clean them, to which they said they did. I asked this question 3 times because of how important this is; that caked-on stuff leeches into every load. Tossing some bleach or washer cleaner in just doesn't get all the grime out, especially if it is caked on. Got my washer and dryer delivered today. Overall, it was a good experience, right up until I got home and checked the tub. Not only did they clearly not clean the washing machine, but they also didn't replace the door switch on the dryer like they said they would.
