Dons Appliances

I have purchased two appliances from Don over the last 3 years. One washer and one dryer. Both are still in my property and work great. I purchased them over the phone from him and I completely trust his judgment. He always picks up his phone on the first or second ring. We work out a reasonable price (I usually think it should be $10 cheaper though) and then he works the real magic. Within a couple hours of me calling him he has the new unit put in in the old unit taken out. Simply can't find this kind of old school service and white glove delivery anywhere anymore. Don is the best.

We bought a washer/dryer set from Don for $1200 in May 2024. Not cheap, but not outrageous either for the model. In September of 2024 the washer broke, out of warranty of course. Don sent his drunk repairman to charge me $95 an hour, including travel time to tell me it would cost another $300 plus labor to fix. To top it off, the drunk repairman wanted to charge me for the time he sat on the phone with the owner and sat in his car attempting to write a receipt. I would not recommend this place for anything!

Don sold me a “like new” LG washing machine that looked nice, did not have all the features he had promised over the phone and smelled of mold. Once I immediately noticed there was mold on the front gasket, he replaced it right away, but the mold smell would not go away. After months of cleaning it with every product on the market, including running bleach cycles, I could not get this small smell to go away, even though the gasket and drum were pristine and always kept dry, with the door open. I finally got so frustrated that I took apart the entire washer by hand to find that the plastic drum housing assembly was completely eaten by black mold. The tube running from the soap dispenser down to the drum was filled with black mold and rust. This man knew that I am a single mom and just needed a reliable washer when mine went out, and he took advantage of a quick sale. Edited and updated to respond owner as of Sunday, March 24: I texted Don, the owner directly before posting anything online to give him a chance to respond and make things right. The rust buildup was not in the soap dispenser but in the plastic tube leading from the dispenser and was likely from years of past use before it was sold to me, as my water is all filtered before it enters the house and I have an instant hot water heater, so the water is never sitting. This has nothing to do with all of the black mold found inside the housing assembly shown in the pictures above. Thank you I will text Don again about the refund you offered. He has still not contacted me.
