Molly
I purchased new appliances (oven, dishwasher and refrigerator)for my home in May 2025. On 4/30/26 I returned home to find my 10 month old GE refrigerator was not working. Everything in the refrigerated section and the freezer was lost. I called and spoke with Ryan (very nice) regarding repair. He set up a repair date for 5/5/26 from 8-12. No one ever showed up nor did the notify me. I reached out to Ryan, who was very apologetic and was going to look into it. He never really got an answer as to why the 3rd party repair person didn’t show but got it rescheduled for 5/15/26. The repair person came out but said I needed a part that had to be ordered. They finally called and scheduled the repair for 5/27/26 from 8-12. Again, no one showed up and I received no word from them. I immediately called Ryan and explained everything to him. He called them 10 times and left 5 messages with the 3rd party service. He also called GE directly and his manager. He finally got through to someone and again they acknowledged the appointment but gave no reason for why they didn’t come. Ryan was extremely apologetic and helpful. He completely understood my growing frustration and was trying to get me some sort of compensation for this debacle due to loss of food and excessive time to repair. Ryan called back that night 5/27/26 and told me I would be getting a new frig instead of trying to repair this one. He also told me that his boss (Bob Edwards) would be taking over my case due to the escalation to a new refrigerator. They didn’t have my particular frig in stock so it had to be ordered. I was told a week to possibly 2 to get it shipped. On 6/15/26, one day shy of 3 weeks I still hadn’t heard anything regarding an install date. I called early that morning and left a message for Bob. The next morning when I had not heard back from him, I called again. Bob answered and I proceeded to ask for updates regarding the situation. I was frustrated with the amount of time this whole process was taking and the fact that Bob never responded back to me and I voiced this to him. He never acknowledged not calling me back. He was very unsympathetic and curt. In fact, at one point he said “Molly, I don’t have a room in the back with spare parts that I can just make you a refrigerator “! He then told me he’d let me know any updates after he got to the office as he was in the car. Bob called later that day to tell me the installation date would be 6/24/26. Thankfully, it was delivered with no issues. After almost 2 months with no refrigerator, I was beyond relieved. But the length of the whole process was really unacceptable. I was truly disappointed as I thought buying from an independent store instead of a big box store would mean much better/timelier customer service. Ultimately, the most disappointing aspect was that the director of customer care spoke to me with complete disrespect, the first and only time we talked. I expected more from your store.
