I wanted to support a local business, but unfortunately my experience with Slyman Brothers was extremely disappointing.
Our salesman, Carter, was friendly and helpful. The problems began with delivery.
The refrigerator arrived filthy, covered with a greasy residue that couldn't be cleaned with normal methods. It took two weeks and a service technician from the manufacturer before it finally looked like a new refrigerator. The technician told me it should have remained wrapped in protective plastic until it was inside my home.
The washer/dryer installation was much worse. The first delivery crew forced a unit into a laundry closet that multiple later installers said was too small for that model. When the appliance appeared to be only about 1/4" from fitting, they asked me to sign a waiver because one final push might scratch the wall. I agreed, believing I was accepting the risk of a few cosmetic scratches.
Instead, they punched two large holes in my drywall, wedged the appliance halfway into the closet against my water heater, and left without a working washer/dryer. The appliance also blocked access to the utility area containing my furnace, water heater, and condensate pump for nearly two weeks.
Two additional crews later acknowledged the original installation never should have been attempted. After the appliance was finally removed, my drywall contractor discovered the installers had also knocked the condensate pump drain hose loose, allowing water to drain where I couldn't even access it because the appliance blocked the closet.
It took three weeks and multiple visits before I finally had a functioning washer/dryer. I also had to hire a drywall contractor to repair the damage at my own expense.
Mistakes happen. What disappointed me most was how they were handled. Rather than taking responsibility, I was told the damage was essentially my fault because I had signed the waiver. As a customer, I didn't hire the delivery company—Slyman Brothers did. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend them.
