St. Vinnie's- Main Street Thrift Store Springfield

Ummmmmm..... you get the items you are selling for free? Why are you price gouging? Most folks have stopped going to Goodwill because of price gouging. I want to support what St. Vinnie does in the community, but not to the point of doing the same thing Goodwill is doing. Doubt anyone reads these, but I think proceeding down this path you might see donations and sales dropping. Go back to the original motto of helping out the community.

I never ever leave reviews, and never been a fan of them but today I felt like I had to. I was shopping here today, and was in there for quite awhile. Towards the end of my time there I found a very cool 1988 Van Halen shirt sitting in the jumble of all the other shirts. It had a price tag on it of 9.99. A fair price for a place that gets their stuff donated to them for free. I had the shirt in my possession for probably 10-15 minutes and then I’m approached by a lady who I assume is maybe the store manager, and she asks what shirt is that? I showed it to her, and then she asked what it’s priced at. I showed her the tag, and she told me that’s the wrong price, and asked to have it back. I was confused and kind of speechless. I asked her how much were they gonna price it for and she told me $100… I did my research before she approached me, and the shirt sells on eBay for around $75-80. She continued to ask for the shirt back, and I informed her of how unfair this whole situation is. I mean just take the loss. You made an uh oh, just move on. I’ve been thrifting in Eugene, for about 16-17 years, and have dropped upwards to atleast $1,000 in this location, don’t even want to think about how much I’ve probably spent in total at all the St. Vinnie’s. I ended up just giving the shirt back, because I hate dealing with confrontations. I heard no thank you or anything. I shopped for maybe like 5 minutes more looking at the jewelry and other things upfront. While doing so she said sorry about that. I’m usually one to just push things off, but this situation had me feeling a different type of way. Maybe it’s just the new year energy. I told her what she did was completely unfair and unprofessional (might of dropped the f bomb, but in this situation I think it truly called for it.) Seeing what St Vincent has become is truly such a depressing thing. I remember the days of fair prices, especially for the people who really need it. Might as well change the name to St. EBay. You guys lost pretty loyal customer today UPDATE: I sent you guys an email 8 days ago and haven’t heard back. UPDATE 2: A month later, and no response. Very unprofessional, and untruthful.
