This review applies more to their online ordering than this physical locations, but involves the local store too.
We ordered an oven (w/ plug) and fridge for our new house in St. Louis on May 10. The system emailed a receipt right away. After that, Happys completely dropped the ball repeatedly.
- For days, no word about when the delivery would come. I tried their online contact form; no response. I tried calling them daily and leaving a message; no response. Finally I reach a person who found my order sitting in their inbox unprocessed; they assure me I'd now get a delivery date soon.
- A week passes. I call again. They check and find my appliances are only in their MI warehouse, so it'll take another 7-10 days to ship to St. Louis.
- A week passes. We've moved in and lost the window of using our own moving van to avoid the delivery fee. I call and find the appliances are still in the MI warehouse. They promise another 7-10 days.
- About another week. I call and find they shipped the fridge but the oven is still in the MI warehouse. They won't deliver until both are in town.
- Finally they schedule delivery for June 4.
- June 4: They gave the driver my billing address (old house), not my delivery address. (The driver on the phone says, "They keep doing this to me!") I double check my receipt that I did indeed give them the correct delivery address; this was their own error. After I'm waiting a couple hours assuming he's now on his way to my real house, Happys calls me to let me know they refused to have their driver drive another 20m to my house that day (12m from their warehouse), and say they'll try again June 8. I complain and ask for a refund of the delivery fee; they say they'll check with the manager the next day and call back, and see if they can get an emergency driver for June 5 and check if that works for me.
- The driver calls June 5 to say he's on his way (no checking first by Happys). He does a good job installing the items, but Happys didn't give him the oven's power plug I purchased.
- The driver says he'll come June 6 and drop the plug off. We're out that day, so he leaves it at the door, and I have to wire and install it myself, though I paid them to.
- I complain to Happys about all this and ask the delivery/installation fee be refunded for this and costing us nearly a month of higher food/gas bills for daily small grocery runs. They refuse on the grounds that they had to pay extra for their June 5 emergency delivery. (Sorry, but costs of your own internal errors do not make it up to the customer.)
- The appliances work, but the oven was clearly not just scratch/dent, but used. It still had charred food residue on the range top. It was also missing some screws in the back.
